Ah yes, we are in the cusp of Grand Theft Auto V’s release, and while some already have their hands on the hot off the press open world goodness, it’s important for those who have yet to get their copies to understand that the second disc in 360 copies of the game should not be installed. Rockstar’s Support branch on Twitter recently posted the news this morning, and the news has since been spreading in the hopes of enlightening every potential user prior to receving their respective copies tomorrow.

Copies of GTA:V on the 360 come with two discs. The first is an installation disc that places all of the game’s content onto the hard drive (approximately 8 gigs total) whilst the second disc is used to actually play the game. It’s not too far off from how Halo 4 required the entire multiplayer suite to be installed from a different disc as well.

While it’s possible to install the disc that’s used to play the game, doing so will result in performance issues. A nifty video from Digital Foundry highlights some of the graphical quirks that come about from installing the second disc.

If you know a loved one that is about to shut themselves from the outside world to play GTA:V be sure to inform them about this issue before they find themselves wondering why oh why ferris wheels disappear before their very eyes.
